I have been learning to write an antonym diamante poem.
An antonym is the opposite of something.
I found this activity fun because I LOVE poems.

Proofreading my work is important because If your reader is reading your work before you proof read it it won't make sense.
I found this activity easy because I am good at proofreading.

My next step is to make sure all the grammar is correct.

We read a myth about how the Maori believe the world began.

It was called in the beginning.

We learnt about some of the Maori Guardians.

I chose to draw Haumia. 

I wrote some adjectives to describe his personality.

I found this activity fun because I love art!

We have been learning to write an a Haiku poem and an acrostic poem.

My favorite poem was the Haiku poem because it was quick but fun!
These poems are both very different because the haiku is short and simple but the acrostic poem is long and complicated.

The hardest poem to write would be the Haiku because it was hard to think of the right words

ANZAC Postcard

My Pepeha Art

A few weeks ago Room 12 got EXTRA homework! Our homework was to make our own pepeha. A pepeha is a picture or a sheet that you have to sign, the things on the sheet would ask you what your culture, name, Mum and Dad's name and stuff like that.
The pepeha that we did for our homework was the sheet of paper. When we brought them back a few people didn't bring them back. I wasn't one of them.
 Mrs Melville ( I'm pretty sure you should know that she is my teacher! ) checked  them and finally got to do the picture art!
The most important thing was the maunga! ( mountain )
The second most important thing was the Ra. ( sun ) Then the awa. ( river ) So on.
I thought I should do a few animals to represent how I like them.

I found this activity tricky because sometimes it would be hard to smudge.

We are learning to extend our vocabulary.  I found this activity tricky because I didnlt know what some of the words meant.  My next step is to keep learning new words and when there is a word that I don´t know the meaning of I would make an infrence on it.

Identifying And Classifying Numbers

We have been learning to identify add and even numbers , and numbers less  than 20.   We did an activity on Nrich using  a venn diagramme . I found this activity tricky because it was hard to communicate with Kleiza and agree on which numbers to put where. My next step is to do this activity with different types of numbers.  

Robinson Crusoe - Chapter 1

I have been learning to read independently for sustained periods of time .  We are reading Robin Cruise which is a novel.  I found this activity easy because I love using my imagination!  My next step is to be more specific.

Did You Ever Poem

I have been learning to write a Did you ever poem.  I found this a little bit tricky because in some parts it was quite confusing.  It helped when Mrs Melville gave us some example.  I found this activity easy because  I've done publishing before and it was really fun!  My next step is to write more simple poems.

My Welcome Post 2016

Welcome to my Year 4 blog.  This year I am in room 12 and my teacher is Mrs Melville.  I enjoy reading because I like to use my imagination.  I am looking forward to go swimming!  I hope you enjoy my blog and leave lots off feedback.
